Right-of-Way work consists of any work taking place within the City right-of-way, this would include any city street and the land to either side of it, including the sidewalk if applicable.

In order to perform construction work within the City Right-of-Way, the responsible party must obtain an excavation permit from the City Engineer's Office. Along with the permit application, the applicant must submit a scaled drawing of the work taking place as well as a traffic maintenance plan if traffic in the area will be disturbed as a result of the work.

In addition, a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) is required, specifying the City of West Lafayette as the certificate holder.

Please refer to the links below for the excavation permit application, the right-of-way excavation handbook, and restoration standards. Any questions about the right-of-way excavation program can be directed to rowpermits@westlafayette.in.gov.
