Mission Statement

The West Lafayette Animal Control provides for the humane treatment of stray, neglected and abused animals.

We wish to provide our professional assistance for the health and protection of the residents of West Lafayette.

Responsibilities

Our responsibilities include the enforcement of local and state animal control laws, the humane capture and treatment of unwanted animals, investigation of animal abuse, neglect, cruelty, and the provision of emergency transportation and care for injured animals within the City of West Lafayette.

We also investigate animal bites, nuisance animals, unlicensed domestic pets, and aggressive animals.

Stray Animals

If you have found a stray domestic animal within the City limits of West Lafayette, you can take the animal to the Almost Home Humane Shelter at 1705 S. 2nd Street in Lafayette, In., or call (765) 474-5222 for more information.

If you live outside the West Lafayette City limits, you can contact the Tippecanoe County Animal Control at (765) 423-9321. If you live within the City limits of Lafayette, you can contact the Lafayette Animal Control at (765) 807-1200.

The Almost Home Humane Shelter will not take owner surrendered animals. It is the responsibility of the owner of an unwanted pet to find a home for their pet.

It is against the law to abandon an animal under Indiana Code 35-46-3-7. Violation of this code is a Class B Misdemeanor.

Please have your pet spayed or neutered and help control the pet population. Thank you.
