Animal Control
The West Lafayette Animal Control treats stray, neglected, and abused animals humanely. It is against the law to abandon an animal under Indiana Code 35-46-3-7. Violation of this code is a Class B Misdemeanor.
We wish to provide our professional assistance for the health and protection of the residents of West Lafayette.
Responsibilities
Our responsibilities include the following:
· Enforce local and state animal control laws.
· Humanely capture unwanted animals (strays NOT pets).
· Investigate animal abuse, neglect, and cruelty.
· Investigate animal bites, nuisance animals, unlicensed domestic pets, and aggressive animals.
· Emergency transportation and care for injured animals within the City of West Lafayette.
Stray Animals
If you have found a stray domestic animal within the city limits of West Lafayette, you can take it to the West Lafayette Police Department or call 765-775-5200.
If you live outside the West Lafayette City limits, you can contact the Tippecanoe County Animal Control at (765) 423-9321.
If you live within the City limits of Lafayette, you can contact Lafayette Animal Control at (765) 807-1200.
The Almost Home Humane Shelter will not take owner-surrendered animals. It is the responsibility of the owner of an unwanted pet to find a home for their pet.
