2024 starting salaries for police officers
- Probationary Patrol Officer - $68,235 annually
- 1st Class Patrol Officer (after 1 year) - $71,995 annually
Basic Requirements:
U.S. citizenship, at least 21 years of age at the time of application and no older than 40years of age or be a veteran with 20 years of service in the armed forces with a maximum age of 40 years and 6 months at the time of appointment. Be of good moral character, have no convictions for felony crimes, and possess a valid drivers license, high school diploma or G.E.D. , and not have abused any drugs/narcotics within two years of application date.
To be considered for the West Lafayette Police Department one or more of the following requirements must be met:
- Completed 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college credit at an accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 GPA based on a 4.0 grading scale; or
- Honorably completed 2 years of active U.S. military service; or
- Employed as a full time law enforcement officer for a minimum of 2 years.
