The West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a comprehensive study that addresses our community's parks and recreational needs thoughtfully and strategically. The Master Plans evaluates facilities, staffing, operational systems, programming, growth, and the community's vision for the future of our City. This update will establish a clear understanding of the current baseline and future desired state and create a structure to achieve goals and monitor accomplishments. The plan aims to enhance the parks and recreational facilities in our City and foster better connections to the neighborhoods and communities that make up the Greater West Lafayette community. The proposed recommendations will guide the development of recreational resources and amenities for the next five years, prioritizing improvements to the park facilities and recreation spaces that will provide the greatest benefit to the City of West Lafayette.

West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department updates our Strategic Master Plan every five years in accordance with Indiana Department of Natural Resources requirements.  In the fall of 2022, we updated our Master Plan. Prior to writing and approving the Plan, we hold feedback sessions to hear from the Greater Lafayette Community and get their input. The final Master Plan is a result of a mix of community feedback, safety requirements to keep our parks and greenspaces operational, and projected funding available for new projects.
